Description

The primary purpose of the Accountant is to maintain accurate company ledger and daily financial transactions, and timely recording and classification in the general ledger in line with the reporting timelines and in line with IFRS.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure Monthly maintenance and reconciliation of cash book.
  • Oversee the purchasing and payables functions.
  • Preparation of Monthly financial reports and comparison to budgets. Explanation of variances as they occur.
  • Participate in the weekly team meeting and report on progress of assignments
  • Coordinate and manage payment and billing details of external service providers, contractors and vendors.
  • Manage and reconcile accounts payables.
  • Verify payments and deposits made through the company account and coordinate with the bank.
  • Create daily, weekly and monthly reports for management and team member
  • Manage cashflows and treasury in line with the budget and commitments made.
  • Ensure timely submission of VAT and WHT returns on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure asset register maintenance in line with IFRS.
  • Actively participate in all audit processes, internal and external auditors.
  • Actively participate in the annual budgetary process.
  • Fixed assets management.
  • Internal controls monitoring and review.
  • Collaborate with Financial Managers and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks.
  • Provide additional support to management as required

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A minimum qualification of a Bachelors in Accounting or AAT Level 4
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in an accounting environment or similar industry
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite esp. Excel
  • Experience with Accounting Software Packages esp. SAGE
